Making Teaching more Impactful and Profitable

The Brand

A brand where a teacher can be profitable. This would be suitable for the teacher who doesn't want to quit their job, or even when they want to go full-time as a digital entrepreneur.

Teachers usually have degrees, certifications, and other credentials that allow them to teach in institutions. This is extremely valuable in the online world. Topics that are more serious and structured, such as finance and health and wellness, can sometimes draw the grifters, but if you have the credentials, you immediately stand out from the entire marketplace.

The Audience

The service you provide for the students could literally be for whichever type of student you choose. The beauty of this brand is that you, as a teacher, get to select what topic you want to cover.

The ideal customer is going to be a college student or high school student, but even parents of elementary and middle school age children are looking for tutors for their children. Those families who want their children to excel are going to invest in their children as early and often as possible.

If you focus on the struggling students, you could really make an impact practically overnight. There are several different teaching programs, facilities, and institutions set up to help these children, but not many of them are run correctly and effectively. That's why we still have so many children that are failing classes.

The Growth Play

One of the best tactics to grow a brand like this is to have direct connections to institutions. Pipelines are incredibly valuable and easy to acquire when you have credentials for it.

Connect with local schools and virtual programs. Build relationships with the program directors. You could even focus on Facebook groups where mothers are. See what they want and need! Sometimes they’ll promote you completely free. Other times they want a trade of some promotion or cash.

Create pipelines to connect with ideal customers!

The Content Engine

The best content for a brand like this is long-form on YouTube. You should have three different playlists:

  1. Really deep, thoughtful, strategic content that breaks stuff down that people really struggle with. Make long form videos, 8-12 minutes long, that teach concepts.

  2. Another playlist focused on helping people. Show yourself doing the work with clients. This looks like recording your calls and then editing them to post on YouTube in the long form format.

  3. Something personal. Give your viewers an additional reason to connect with you and build even more interest.

A long-form video concept with this brand is going to be a killer! You would definitely rip by sharing the strategies on video. There are already a lot of people doing this on YouTube right now. You can search for how to do something on Excel or how to solve certain math problems, and you'll have a ton of videos at your fingertips. Developers use YouTube right now to find out how to fix their code. A teacher could do the same thing with a very specific area of expertise

The Monetization

the interesting thing about a brand like this is you could obviously charge on a per-client basis. You have people that want to learn a specific skill, and you can teach them on a three-month plan or even just semester-focused. Beyond that, you can even have special programs where you work with classes of students.

For example, if you had neighborhood students who went to a specific school and you have maybe five parents who want their children to be tutored to prepare for college, that's a perfect scenario where you just charge the parents one fee. They all pull their money together and pay you!
